Diego provides exceptional leadership and insights for our LWC/UC+CCHMC Collaboration. In particular, he provided the core design for the Hyundai "Reimagining Wellness After Childhood Cancer" Grant. He seamlessly led the team in a novel design-thinking approach to deeply understand and define the needs of different groups of patients, challenge assumptions and create new approacher, and to develop new personalized models for engagement. He is now leading approaches to prototype and iteratively refine novel solutions. His work stands out in defining totally new models for patient empowerment and durable life-long active participation in care. He did this by developing a completely new approach to engagement that cross current barriers in motivation, social-economic status, age, sex, race and ethnicity. Moreover, the significance of his insight and contribution is immense - it holds impact for medical care broadly beyond cancer care and represents a potential powerful tool to address current challenges in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
