Challenge
How might we create an inclusive approach addressing diverse passenger needs?
Results
A systematic scheme of 17 concepts divided in 4 different areas: Mobility, visual, auditory and Cognitive.
CDA Protected
This project includes material undergoing intellectual property protection and is not accessible to everyone. Images have been blurred to safeguard the information.
However, I would be happy to discuss the project scope and results with you.

Process
Lead in: Determine project deliverables, co-develop scope and objective of the project, and onboard the team.
Research: Conducted multiple primary and secondary research methods to understand main challenges and insights to translate into potential solutions.
Ideate: We conducted two rounds of ideation. In the first round, we focused on generating HMW questions and exploring initial solution ideas. In the second round, we addressed challenging scenarios and synthesized all the generated ideas into a final collection.
Refine: We built a replica of the cabin to test concepts with stakeholders, which allowed us to refine our final ideas later on.
Next Steps: Two ideas were selected for IP protection, and patents are currently in progress. These ideas are also being presented at the Crystal Cabin Awards 2025.
Defining Areas of Focus
Auditory
Difficulties in hearing or processing auditory information
Visual
Impairment impacting the ability to interpret visual information
Cognitive
Challenge with mentally processing everyday tasks and activities
Mobility
Limitations in motor control and function
Primary Research
Literature Review
Secondary Research
Inclusion activities with Stakeholders
Research Analysis - Challenge mapping
We identified challenges within the travel journey by pinpointing specific areas where difficulties arise for each group.
Research Analysis - Insights Clustering Matrix
The team used the Insight Clustering Matrix method to identify opportunities that exist in multiple areas.
Research Analysis - Identified Challenges
Ideation
How Might We
HMWs Brainstorm:
With initial knowledge gained from research, we conducted a brainstorm session to generate “How Might We” statements. Which we organized based on the impairment(s) impacted.
Synthesis:
The HMWs are then categorized into groups following their placement in the Venn diagram. Similar topics are grouped together and 16 prompts are created for concept ideation.
1st Ideation Round
Method: Switch around
2nd Ideation Round
Method: Rapid ideation
